Quebec will be the guest culture at the event
The International Book Fair, Liber 2008, will bring together around 700 publishers and companies in Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via exhibition centre, from the 8th to the 10th of October. The Fair will feature the literary and artistic production of Quebec, French-speaking province of Canada, this year's guest of honour.
Promoted by the Spanish Federation of Publishers' Guilds, the fair is the Spanish and Latin American publishing industry's most important professional event. Liber 2008 will be held in pavilion 1 at the Gran Via exhibition centre and is aimed at sector professionals such as publishers, booksellers, librarians, authors, teachers and graphic arts professionals.
300 direct exhibitors, representing 700 publishers and companies from 16 countries will participate in the 26th Liber. Literary agents, multimedia companies, professional associations and service companies will also be present in the event. The guest culture will be Quebec, the French-speaking Canadian province, which has around 2,000 publishing companies which publish some 5,000 titles a year and has annual sales of over 450 million euros.
