The best collections of minerals, fossils and gems, in Expominer

Half of the exhibitors are foreign from 16 countries

Meteorites from Mars, 500 million-year-old fossils and precious stones of great natural value are some of the pieces that can be found in Expominer, from the 6th to the 9th of November 2009 in hall 6 at Fira de Barcelona's Montjuïc exhibition centre. The show, with 125 exhibitors, is one of Europe's biggest platforms in which to exchange, buy and sell unique pieces.

Almost half of exhibitors are foreign from 16 countries, such as India, France, Germany, Italy, Ethiopia and Morocco. The rest come from all over Spain, especially Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Navarra and Zaragoza.

The list of cultural activities, in which over 2,000 pupils from Catalan schools and institutes are expected to participate, includes the exhibition "Live like humans in Prehistoric times", featuring replicas of fossils found in the Sierra de Atapuerca, declared UNESCO Heritage of Humanity since 2000. There will also be workshops on cave painting and demonstrations of how fire was made in prehistoric times.

Youngsters will be able to find out how our ancestors worked in the mines of Conca del Priorat, through findings in the sites at Puig Roig del Roget del Masroig i Sant Miguel de Vinebre; learn traditional techniques of making jewellery; and participate in the drawing contest "Planet Earth and Minerals".
